Two former Gators are heading north.
Tyler Murphy and Ian Silberman enrolled in classes at Boston College this week, the school confirmed Wednesday. The pair of fifth-year seniors will reconnect with former Florida assistant Steve Addazio, who is now the head coach at Boston College.
Murphy, who started six games last season in place of an injured Jeff Driskel, will compete for the starting quarterback job in his final year of eligibility. Called on unexpectedly when Driskel suffered a fractured right fibula during a game against Tennessee on Sept. 21, Murphy passed for 1,216 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions before missing Florida’s final three games due to a shoulder injury.
Silberman made four starts for the Gators’ patchwork offensive line last season but served mostly as a reserve during his time with the program.
